Friday, 20 November 2015

A very informative, enjoyable and well-attended meeting was held on Thursday 12th November in Clontarf Castle.

Brian Yeats spoke to the assembled group about John Hattie's findings.

Hattie spent 15 years analysing research documents on 140 different teaching strategies, approaches, interventions and tools. His work involved over 240 million students!!
His book 'Visible Learning' was published in 2009.

There were some very interesting results discussed and some of the strategies that have the biggest impact on student learning were surprising.
One of the key messages is that good teaching is paramount and good formative feedback is essential.

Thank you to Brian for his presentation and thanks to all the region 8 members who attended.
